Direct answer
The asking price is only the start. You also need proof of ownership, the serial history, service records, evidence the unit runs now, manufacturer support, a site it fits, safe removal, freight, reinstallation and commissioning. If neither the manufacturer nor an authorized technician will support that serial number, the discount may be worth nothing.
Before paying a deposit
- Obtain the manufacturer, exact model, serial number and build date.
- Verify the seller has authority to transfer the equipment and that no finance lien remains.
- Ask the manufacturer whether the serial is supported in the destination region.
- Request installation, maintenance, repair and fault records.
- Confirm current software, licenses, passwords and remote-service access.
- Ask whether warranty, training or service plans transfer.
- Witness a complete operating cycle and retain dated evidence.
- Commission an independent inspection when the purchase value justifies it.
Warranty transfer is where documents most often disagree. The public Cryo Innovations FAQ says the warranty may transfer if the company is notified within 30 days, while its XR warranty PDF limits coverage to the original purchaser while they still own and operate the unit. Both were checked October 6, 2026. Get a written decision that names the serial, buyer, destination and governing terms, and don't pay for coverage in the price until it is confirmed.

Equipment-specific checks
For electric refrigeration, inspect the compressor history, refrigerant circuit records, condenser condition, electrical configuration and environmental limits. For nitrogen systems, confirm tank compatibility and the condition of valves, hoses, sensors, exhaust and ventilation. For any system, check the delivery dimensions against the route into the room.
Walk-away conditions
Stop the deal if the serial number is withheld, ownership is unclear, the service history doesn't match the runtime, safety devices have been bypassed, parts are unavailable, the configuration doesn't suit your site, or the seller refuses a witnessed operating test.
A listing and a manufacturer-refurbished machine have different evidence
The CryoMe used-equipment page, checked October 6, 2026, separates listings posted by sellers from machines it refurbishes itself. Its one-year warranty statement applies to the manufacturer's refurbishment offer, not to every third-party listing.
For a refurbished unit, record who did the work, the dated inspection scope, replaced components, test results, the warranty and its exclusions. For a private listing, check the same records yourself with the seller and the manufacturer. Either way, ask whether remote accounts, paid software, user data and diagnostic access can be transferred or closed, and keep a signed commissioning result after the move.
Keep the model identity through a transfer
Match the nameplate and serial number against the invoice, the manufacturer's records, the configuration, hardware revision, service record, software account and warranty. A reused product name, a redirected web page or a certificate image doesn't prove that a used unit matches a current model.
For nitrogen XR equipment, the manufacturer's transfer and service program describes a backend reset and training topics. Confirm the current terms for the serial number, and don't confuse the XR Cryosauna with the electric XR Cryo Kiosk. Ask who authorizes the account transfer, which features keep working offline and whether labor or travel are charged separately. Add those conditions to the service file.
Sources and limitations
This checklist reflects gaps that come up repeatedly in used-equipment listings and in manufacturers' support requirements. Have a qualified technician, a local contractor and a legal adviser review the specific unit and contract.
