Direct answer
Start from the service you want to add and who will deliver it. Cryofacial devices, localized cryotherapy systems and cryolipolysis platforms use cold in different ways, run on different supplies and support different services on the menu. Some wellness-led medspas add a whole-body chamber as well, but that is a separate room and operating decision.
Modality shortlist
| Category | Commercial workflow to evaluate | Equipment fields to compare | Evidence warning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cryofacial | Short facial or skin-focused appointment | Cooling source, applicator, supply use, cleaning, training and room controls | Keep aesthetic outcome claims outside the equipment comparison until qualified review |
| Localized cryotherapy | Targeted cold application within a recovery or aesthetic workflow | Electric, nitrogen, CO2 or cold-air source, hose, applicator, tank logistics and reset | Verify local gas and room requirements for the exact model |
| Cryolipolysis | Longer body-contouring appointment using one or more applicators | Applicator range, simultaneous handles, vacuum and cooling control, consumables, documentation and service | Treat this as a separate regulated and clinical claim category |
| Whole-body cryotherapy | Dedicated short session in a chamber or cryosauna | Room, power or nitrogen, ventilation, capacity, supervision, service and installed cost | Do not infer demand from technical throughput |
Map the appointment before comparing machines
Write down every step from consultation to the room being ready for the next client.
- Booking and eligibility process
- Consent and documentation
- Preparation
- Staff time during the session
- Cleaning and reset
- Consumable replacement
- Follow-up and recordkeeping
Ask each supplier to demonstrate the whole sequence on the configuration they're quoting. A short treatment can still tie up the room for a long time.
Room and staffing test
Record room dimensions, sink or cleaning access, electrical service, ventilation, gas storage, noise, heat, privacy and service clearance. Note which role performs each step and whether that person can leave the room during the session.
If the service uses gas, get a storage, monitoring and ventilation plan for the specific model. If the platform runs several applicators, confirm whether one staff member can safely look after simultaneous treatments under your policies and the rules that apply to you.
Keep equipment software separate from client records
A device account, a session counter and a client record are three different things. Before choosing a platform, find out what data the equipment creates, which staff can see it, whether anything leaves the building, and how records can be kept or exported if the subscription or supplier relationship ends. The machine's software doesn't replace your own recordkeeping.
| Question | Evidence needed before selection |
|---|---|
| Who owns the administrator account? | Buyer-controlled account and documented recovery or transfer procedure |
| What is needed for normal operation? | Model-specific license, network and offline-operation terms |
| What does remote support access? | Authorized access scope, approval process and diagnostic-data policy |
| What happens at renewal or resale? | Continuing-use cost, account transfer and data-export terms |
Work through the software and service handoff alongside the equipment quote. These are purchasing questions; your actual privacy and clinical-record obligations depend on the business, its location and how the workflow is set up.

Claim boundary
This page compares equipment and operating requirements and makes no clinical or aesthetic promises. Any outcome, safety or contraindication wording needs a separate qualified review against primary and regulatory sources.
